We love to take queues from nature – from creating inspired tones like moss, willow, clay and terra to building instinctive spaces guided by comfort and ease of use. When combined, the colors, fabrications and pieces we choose create energy that either represents us or the energy we want to evoke in our homes. As of late, we’ve been drawn to a sunset palette. While it grounds us in the evening sun it also wakes us with peaceful energy. We talked to Raja from our Design Services team, to get his perspective on perfecting this palette at home.

We heard you’re a fan of a sunset – what do you love most about these hues?

Sunset is my favorite time of the day. I’m a Texas boy, and everyone knows Texas is one of the most beautiful places for a colorful southern sunset. My day revolves around the sun, from waking up to closing my laptop lid. Even my dogs know my routine. For some, it's a Kodak-moment; for me, it's time to unwind.

What are your tried and true colorways for creating a sunset palette?

When I think of the perfect sunset palette, I immediately think of the rainbow's letters R-O-Y: red, orange, and yellow. Of course, it's so much more vivid and colorful: 1. deep reds, pinks, and lavenders; 2. fiery oranges, terracottas; and 3. earthy yellows and beiges.

What emotions or feelings does this palette bring to a space?

The emotions and feelings evoked from this palette are a sense of peace and tranquility. This palette takes your eyes on a spiritual journey, and the earthy organic tones take you away to become one with nature.

Can this palette be used in any room?

Outside of ethical sourcing, Parachute loves effortless color blending. There is no right or wrong way to mix these colors. You can dress up these colors and layers in so many ways. The sunset palette is versatile to spaces: bedrooms, bathrooms, and living rooms, and adaptable to styles: mid-century modern, bohemian, traditional, contemporary, and so much more. Add a splash of sunset to your living room with the warm brown Leather Sling Chair and to the bathroom with our statement golden mauve Organic Cotton Mosaic Towels.

What colors can be included in this palette?

There are so many sunset palette pieces. I’ll pick my top five picks for the bedroom: 1. Pecan, 2. Ochre, 3. Clay, 4. Sand, and 5. Melon

Tell us about a favorite project you’ve worked on

I have had so many fun and exciting projects while styling with clients it’s hard to pick just one. My favorite clients are the ones I can connect with instantly, share a passion for design, and trust my opinions. I also love an empty LA condo that needs dressing from top to bottom, and Lisa’s apartment was just that from A to Z with Mattresses, Bed Frames, Curtains, Towels, and even Flatware for the dining room. After a hectic cross-country move, an entire Parachute Bungalow awaited her.

Tell us a little about your day-to-day and how you work with clients

As a Design Service Specialist, I have virtual meetings with clients to show me their homes so we can create their dream spaces. I start with understanding their style and specific pieces in the room, like furniture colors, while addressing key concerns, including fur babies and sleep patterns. Once we find the ideal fabric, we start outfitting the perfect colorways that harmonize best.
