Blogger extraordinaire Jacey Duprie of Damsel in Dior embodies well-curated style. Her eye for mixing high and low pieces extends beyond her closet to all of her interior decor, evident in her recent home renovation.
With the frenetic schedule of a blogger and entrepreneur – packed with collaborations, shoots and design work – we couldn’t help but wonder how Jacey unwinds at the end of the day. The Damsel was kind enough to share her bedtime routine (bubble bath included).
What do you do at night to clear your mind and decompress before bed?
I try my best to put the phone down. I love watching “Modern Family” or reading a book.
Bath person or shower person? Morning or night?
Hands down bath person. I take a minimum of 3 baths per week – it’s like meditation for me. I usually take them at night then wrap up in my Parachute bath towel, but when I’m able to take a bath in the morning, it’s a treat!
What is your favorite midnight snack?
Kitchen is closed at 8pm. If I absolutely must, I’ll have a sugar free popsicle, or on a movie night I’ll make popcorn.
You’ve traveled to some far flung locales and stayed in some pretty dreamy hotels. What hotel has the best morning views?
That’s so tough! It’s a tie between the Four Seasons New York’s view of Central Park and Ngorongoro Serena Lodge’s view of the crater in Tanzania.
One trade secret on how to take the perfect bedroom Instagram:
Don’t try too hard. People actually like messy bed photos more than perfectly made beds.
How many hours of sleep do you need to have a productive day?
I need a minimum of six hours but function best with eight.
How do you take your morning coffee?
Describe your perfect breakfast in bed.
A fried egg sandwich on white bread with crispy bacon and mayo (drool!). Coffee and The New York Times.
Your home renovation was well-documented. What are three tips for someone who’s about to undertake a home reno of their own?
Try to stick to a budget. Get creative. Use Pinterest to help guide you in having a cohesive plan, but also don’t get married to your plan because things change.
Have fun. The process can be quite stressful, but try and take a step back to admire the work you are doing.
It’s not going to be perfect. Try and only pick one or two ‘must haves’ and outside of that, be flexible with your choices.
Are your Insta-famous dogs William and Polly allowed in your bed?
I’ll never tell ;)
[Ed. note: William passed away in 2016 and Polly in 2020.]
